Locals say that the skiing gets good with a 2.5 meter base, well were there!

A 2.5 meter base covers all the alders, fallen debris and fills in the irregular terrain to make the resort 100% ski-able. Thats is, ski anywhere and everywhere-all the narrow chutes and tight lines!

And the snow is stable. The chutes on Mount Fernie’s south face were skied last week. The pitch is over 50 degrees at the entrance so you need to be sure the snowpack is safe, and it was.

When the warm cycle, or Pineapple X-press came through the valley big slides came down almost everywhere. A huge debris pile lays at the bottom of Fish Bowl, see photo below. This is when the patrol really work and do great work keeping us safe and skiing the goods!

My friend JVK from Oshawa/Collingwood came to visit and we skied hard. There also is a snow fishing story but I won’t bore you with the details. He had his big powder day on Monday when the lifts were empty and the powder was endless. We tracked Ski Dive, Cedar Bowl, and hammered Snake Ridge until our legs were mush!

If your looking for great skiing, now is the time to come. It doesn’t get any better, here a couple of pics from our adventures:
