The Fernie Tea and Coffee House opened its doors on December 1, 2006. Owners, Randy and Angelika Heinz, originate from the Lower Mainland where Randy was involved in running a print finishing company. They moved with their two teenagers in the summer of 2005, seeking a small town with big mountains and an even bigger community spirit. “We wanted to be part of a community,” says Randy. “Fernie was it.” After months of planning and renovating, the Tea House was ready for the 06/07 ski season.

Their drink menu consists of over 50 premium loose-leaf teas from around the world. For those craving coffee, fresh roasted coffee from Intelligentsia will hit the spot. “Next to having quality tea and coffee, water is the most important ingredient,” states Randy. “We installed water filtration equipment to ensure that nothing hinders the unique taste of each beverage.”

So relax with a pot of tea, experiment with their tea lattes, or enjoy a cafe latte made with Intelligentsia’s Black Cat Espresso. “We’re excited to finally be open, serving the community, and offering quality products that others can enjoy.”
