On January 1, 2023 the Regional District of East Kootenay’s will be implementing a restructured fee schedule that will affect most development application fees.

The RDEK strives to keep application fees low and reflective of direct costs to process the applications; however, the new fee schedule reflects that since the fees were last reviewed in 2012, the cost of processing applications has increased. In addition to fee changes, new fees have been applied to some services such as detailed property specific information requests and staff review and processing of legal documents and approvals, which were previously provided at no charge.

The current application fees will be in effect until December 31st, 2022. Applications that are received or postmarked before this date will be charged the 2022 fee.

Examples of applications that will be affected by the upcoming changes include (but are not limited to) Zoning Bylaw and Official Community Plan amendments, Temporary Use Permits, Development Permits, subdivision applications, and Development Variance Permits.
