Park Place Lodge

The most depressing thing in the world is going up to the ski area a couple weeks after it closes. The lifts are still. Patches of snow still remain in the trees. The parking lot is muddy. The place is deserted. Emptied. Dead.

The most depressing thing in the world is going up to the ski area a couple days before opening day and it looks like two weeks after closing. Lifts still. Traces of snow in the trees and high on the slopes. Parking lots so muddy a pig would revel in the mess. The only difference being, there are zombie like people walking around aimlessly, looking up at the sky, wondering, praying, “When is it going to snow?”

Matt Mosteller (aka Powder Matt) RCR Vice President said opening FAR will be “A day to day decision.”

My suggestion, if you’re jonesin’ bad, loop that RCR All Mountain Pass around your neck and head up to Kicking Horse. They’re opening this weekend, a week early.

One more powder tip. Check out the Kicking Horse River Lodge. In town, close to happenings, a huge fireplace and a great deal.
