CONTEST ALERT – Show us your Griz pins for charity!

How it works:
◾ Take a photo of you wearing your #grizdays2021 Griz Pin
◾ Post your photo with the hashtag #showusyourgrizpin
◾ Get entered into a draw for a $100 gift card to a local business of your choice

Contest runs from now until March 7th at 5 pm.

Griz Pins are available to purchase for $3.00 each from the following locations in Fernie: the Fernie Visitor Information Centre, Drift & Sonder, Fernie Distillers, Fernie Mountain Spirits, Big Bang Bagels, Scotiabank, Stick & Stone, Fernie Meat Market, Fernie Legion, Fernie Heritage Library, Fernie Museum, and the Fernie Arts Station.

Fernie’s beloved winter festival Griz Days is celebrating its 44th year on March 5-7, but in a completely different format due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the annual celebration, a limited number of Griz Pins are now available to purchase – with proceeds going to a local charity. As always, the Griz Pin drive is being led by the Fernie Rotary in collaboration with the Fernie Chamber of Commerce.

In a normal year, we would create 4,000 pins but with a reduced ability to sell pins in person due to the pandemic we have only pressed 1,000 pins in 2021. Instead of offering a cash prize this year to the winning pin number, the winning pin will instead get to choose what local charity organization they would like to have proceeds donated to from a list provided by the Fernie Rotary.

The Griz Pin format was changed this year with recognition that Griz Days is all about giving back to our community. Because of COVID-19 we had to cancel many Griz Days related events that provide an opportunity for local non-profit organizations and charities to raise much needed funds for their cause. It was therefore important to maximize the amount of money going to charity by eliminating the cash prize just for this year.

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce would like to thank title sponsor Teck and all other sponsors, partners, staff, and volunteers for coming together in a very difficult year to mark the 44th annual Griz Days. The considerable effort that has been made to reimagine the festival in a whole new safe way for our community is very much appreciated. Please stay safe and follow all current health orders and guidance this Griz Days.
