The Fernie Old School Boxing Club staged an evening of amateur boxing at the Fernie Community Centre this past Saturday. The evening showcased amateur boxers at junior and senior levels from both BC and Alberta. The event featured a total of 10 matches with two matches including Fernie locals; Dylan Mitchell and Keith Kurschenska.

The visiting participating Clubs included: Calgary Boxing, Cranbrook Eagles, Medicine Hat, Nelson Boxing, and the Salmon Arm Bulldogs.

In the first bout of the second half fans watched Fernie’s Dylan Mitchell fight Kenny Stratton of Nelson Boxing. Mitchell score the evenings only TKO with an impressive display of talent.

Bout nine featured Fernie favourite Keith Kurschenska who challenged Nike Blakemore of the Cranbrook Eagles. Kurschenska delivered a great performance, it was an exhibition fight so no points were tallied.

There was one female bout, Jessica Sparrow of Calgary Boxing challenged Jordyn Konrad from the Salmon Arm Bulldogs.

The event was professionally organized, the matches were well balanced, and the boxers displayed great speed, agility, and punching ability. This is one of Fernie’s most entertaining events, be on alert for the next Rumble in the Rockies–you won’t want to miss it.
