Park Place Lodge

Slowly but surely more and more ski terrain has been opening after a difficult week of wet snow on top of powder, on top of a difficult snow pack. The avalanche danger has been high. All of the mountain has now been effectively controlled. In the morning the conditions were rock hard. The general consensus was that the signs warning to avoid ungroomed terrain. As the day progressed the snow softened and the skiing started to improve on a run by run basis. Then it started to snow.

Things just kept getting better. The lack of crowds and sudden condition improvement began putting smiles on faces all over the mountain. By mid afternoon we were riding conditions were you did not see your skis. The last runs were powder. I rode down the left side of Down Right for my last run, There were six to eight inches of untracked with deeper pockets on the fall aways. Purely great skiing. Every one on the hill seemed to be in agreement. It is snowing consistently on the mountain and tomorrow is a day not to be missed. The prognosis is for full opening with great snow. Watch for the debris and keep them turning.
