Last weekend, two Fernie teams hiked, biked, climbed and boated their way to first and second place finishes in their category at the Salomon Adventure Challenge, held at Kimberley as part of the Raid the North event last weekend.

As part of their participation in the event, the teams solicited pledges from local companies to help support the Fernie Hospital Foundation.

The Salomon Adventure Challenge is a 5-8 hour adventure, covering roughly 40+ km using a variety of human-powered methods – canoes, mountain bikes, ropes, and trekking.

Both teams did very well, with a first place finish in the Open Category for Pinnacle Ridge’s “Forever Lost” team, made up of members Dennis Cadrain, Dave Thompson, and John Paone. “Forever Lost” also placed 6th overall in the Salomon Adventure Challenge.

Second place in the Open category went to Pinnacle Ridge’s “Tippers” – Stephen Bertoia, Dino Satori, and Stephen Paone. The “Tippers” finished in 7th place overall.

The Pinnacle Ridge team collected pledges from local companies, and ended up raising $2250 donation for the Fernie Hospital Foundation.

Companies who gave pledges included Bob Mitchell Excavating, Daprocida Electrical, Elk Valley Landscape, Fernie Building Centre, Focus Intec, Gipman Milwork & Design Ltd., Kootenay Savings and Credit Union, Morrissey Aggregates, Murlynn Painting & Decorating, Nohels Group, Red Rabit Racing, Tara Plumbing & Heating Ltd., and United Truss.
