Hello Mary,
                                  CONGRATULATIONS!

I am Lina Nohels Amora, still remember me? I'm sure you do. Well, it's been a long time since our last meeting. I'm so happy and proud of you being a Mayor in Fernie. I didn't know until now, it's just happened that I was looking for Joe Aiello's phone number and underneath was your name. I've read your beautiful life story, I'm so impressed of all your hard works, you really deserve it.

Again, Congratulations!!!

Hope to see you if I can visit Fernie this summer.

Take care and God Bless.

Wow - what an experience to have with your daughter. This article touched and inspired me. Forgiveness - a very simple word we all understand, but how difficult to truly accomplish. I would love to attend another "happening" like this one. Are they planning on doing this again in the near future?

The current firehall as it stands today is a decades' old building, in need of serious repair at least. One only has to walk through the premises to see the degradation of a building that is occupied 24/7, notwithstanding the efforts of the full time and paid on call crews to make the space as livable as possible.
Long term, the building of a new "emergency services" building makes sense as it gathers all first response agencies in a single area, with the obvious benefits of a new building.
Questions to ask: How much does the City of Fernie pay to house the RCMP and BCAS in their current locations, and what are the projected long term costs of keeping them where they currently are?
How much does the City intend to spend on renovating the old building, one currently limiting the size and type of apparatus used based on the ability to get the apparatus in and out of the building?
There is currently no more room to house additional apparatus in the current building, how does this address the future needs of any department expansion due to call volume, or adding land base/boundary expansion/larger response areas?
All towns have emergency response, therefore all towns have to deal with the sounds of sirens from time to time, what or where is the best place to minimize noise and traffic disruption from the responding police, fire, and ambulance units? Currently they respond from 3 different places, disrupting 3 different sets of homeowner/residents.
Just some thoughts...
