This week summer camps begin as well as the Summer Social Market series.

1. Sunday Summer Social and Mountain Market

Sunday marks the first of the Summer Social Series and Mountain Markets. Rotary Park will be hosting the markets from 10am to 2pm which will be packed full of local produce and crafts for purchase. After this, head downtown to the Summer Socials which runs from 1pm to 4 pm. Here, enjoy the shopping, street side patios and local entertainment which varies each week. This week, check out the Out of the Box Dumpster Art Project as a part of Community Art Day.

2. Avalanche City All Stars Home Game

Saturday night offers some active entertainment with the Avalanche City All Stars Home Game. This week they play the Kill Jills from Calgary, sure to be a good match. Head down to the arena at 7:00 pm, refreshments and beer gardens on site.

3. Thursday Night Mountain Bike Race Series

Join in the first of the Thursday Mountain Bike series for an evening of adrenaline and good company. Kelsey’s and Scott present the weekly event, with registration starting at 6:30 and race at 7pm. Prizes and refreshments to follow the race.

4. Island Lake Guided Hikes

Take in the scenic views Island Lake has to offer on a guided hike from the lodge. This Sunday, the hike is taken on the Windy Pass, half day hikes at $20 and full day at $99. For questions about departure times/place, bookings and duration, contact the resort at 250 423 3700.

5. Women’s Mountain Bike Camp (beginner/intermediate)

Fernie Alpine Resort hosts a two-day summer camp designed for women by women. The event covers numerous skills including body position, braking, descending/ascending and switchbacks and includes lift passes, lunch and bike maintenance. Single day is $119.00 and two day is $199.00.

Community – Fernie Aquatic Center

The Aquatic Center is back open this Saturday, with new summer swim schedules. The facility is used for both leisure and educational activities for residents and visitors alike. The complex contains an 8-lane competitive size pool, small leisure pool, hot tub, steam room and waterslide. Meeting rooms are available for rent (perfect for birthdays) and there is a full service swimming boutique. Kid’s camps begin next week, for more info:
