Alright! What do you do when the skiing is the absolute pits and the weather is more like April than January? You make the best of it and get out and enjoy yourself.
First off, I really cannot say for certain that the skiing is the pits as I have not been up since the evil rain but I have not heard one person say anything positive about it. You have to download off of the Timber Chair and you can squeak down from the Bear Chair on a thin little path of ice. Up top there is snow but ffrom what I have heard, it is rock solid and very rough. We need snow and we need it bad.
But if it doesn’t snow, there are Spring like things to do that are almost as much fun. And doing them in January is like taking a winter holiday to Maui. Well, not really but it sounds good.
We went mountain biking in the south country on Saturday. The ground is still a bit soft so it felt like riding with two flats in some sections but it was still pretty cool. It is beautiful there when the sun castes long shadows across the flats.
Sunday I went and checked out the skateboarding action at the skateboard park. There were lots of kids out enjoying the dry conditions. It was warm enough that all you really needed was a T-shirt. I was just going to take some photos but said what the heck and drug my board out and ripped around for an hour or so. Why should people half my age have all the fun? Or is that a third my age? Hmmm.
Forecast is looking very bland for the next week with sun and mild temperatures. It is bound to rebound but the question is when. A friend from New Jersey sent me a photo of his front yard today. Looks like all of British Columbia’s snow was dumped on his street. It looked nice seeing white yards and snow capped houses. Sigh.
