Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all had a safe holiday season and got some turns in where ever you were.

Temperatures dropped a bit over the holidays with not much for precipitation after the Christmas dump. Flurries here and there to add a bit to the base and right now, temperatures are dropping into in the –20s in the morning hours. The sun is shining though so if you can brave the temperatures get out and slide around. Just remember to watch for frostbite.

I spent a bit of the holiday teaching a friend to ski which was quite interesting. You forget just how hard it is for people when you see them struggling to make a pie with their skis. Where was Warren Miller when I was teaching him how to load on the poma lift and get off a chair lift? Oh the liftees had a good laugh at that.

And parents, stop yelling at your kids for not skiing to your perfection. Either stick them in a lesson or just have fun with them. And don’t leave them on the bunny slopes while you go off doing what ever it is you do. I saw one little girl who had know clue what she was doing and ended each out of control run with a crash that made her look like a rag doll. Liftees and off duty ski instructors are not baby sitters. Hello!!

Sorry about that, you sometimes see things that you don’t want to see when hanging out on the bunny slopes.

The forecast is for continuing cold for a few days then snow before the weekend. How much I cannot forsee but I am hoping for a big dump. Skiing is good but there is some serious need for some more cover on many of the slopes across the mountain.
