Merry Christmas everyone. Santa delivered big time on Christmas and continued with his giving right on through Boxing day. It dumped heavily for about 30 hours non-stop and Fernie has turned into the winter wonderland we have all come to know and love.

I missed out on skiing on Christmas day but heard it was pretty fine with a nice coat of snow over the rock solid conditions of the past week. Boxing day I got up moderately early to partake in the 8:30 early ski for season’s pass holders. I felt somewhat like an elitist snob as we cruised past all the people standing in the line but when there are freshies to be had I guess I can be a bit self indulgent for at least half an hour in my life.

Skiing was pretty fine. First run was down Boomerang and while there was about 35 cm of snow, you were still clipping a lot of crust as the snow was so light. I actually liked it better as the day progressed because then you could ricochet off of the accumulations and mounds and avoid the icy underside.

Checked out the White Pass side as well now that you can get down without worrying about rocks and mud. There is surprisingly good coverage up there. Better than I have seen it in a long time. Usually there are little rocks rolling around but not this day. Currie bowl should be great when they open it. Mmmm.

Yeah, I am glad it snowed so that people vacationing can have a good time. There is good coverage on the lower mountain as well so beginners can get out and have fun as well.

Today (Monday) it is looking like it might be a really nice day and with a few more bowls to open there will be more powder for everyone. I hope you get out and enjoy what winter has to offer.

I was going to title this report, “How to take bad photos in bad light” but decided they are not bad. Just artsy. Yeah, artsy. I am expressing the internal conflict I have with technology and how it is randomly twisted with the very web of life and energy. Yeah, that is what it is. Art, not bad picture taking.

Anyhow, you get the picture. Snow was everywhere and it was flying in people’s faces.
