It has been springtime here in the valley since last week's big dump. Temperatures reached into the lower double digits almost everyday with many blue bird skies as well. It makes you want to get out the bikes and go for a ride instead of going skiing.

We are approaching that dreaded time of the year when we start yearning for the next season to begin. The mild temperatures this week have done that to me and this weekend I didn't bother heading up to the mountain. Instead, I did some work around the house and went for a few runs instead. Actually it looked like half of Fernie had the same idea as I haven't seen that many people out running since last spring.

So how is the skiing you ask? That depends on who you ask. It is still freezing every night turning the mountain into a rock solid skating rink but apparently the grooming is not too bad, keeping it at least manageable. Don't venture off the groomers in the early parts of the day though or you will be fighting a loosing battle with the death cookies.

Once the temps warm up, the snow gets corny and a bit easier to push around. My father went up today and said he had a really good time. Apparently vacationers are also digging the conditions. They may not be getting soft powder but at least the mountain has good snow coverage.

And what is up with that picture you ask? Hey, when the last time you did a handstand? I had to stick in something seeing as how I have no ski shots this week. The things I do to keep you entertained.
