If you read my report on Friday you might remember it mentioned flurries for the weekend. Well if those were flurries then I can't wait until a snowstorm hits!

About 17 cm of fluff fell on Friday night. We skied Timber and White Pass Chairs for most of the day on Saturday. Anaconda Glades and Concussion Chutes were really nice with only the occasional alder to dodge. I was quite surprised as I expected more to be aldered in. With the new side not being open until Friday, the base wasn't as chewed up or as rough as on the old side where death cookies lingered under the light snow at the bottom of Boomerang and Cedar Bowl. The new side was definitely the place to be.

On Saturday night, another 25 cm of snow fell in town. This system was a bit warmer so the snow was slightly denser than the day before. Good time to take the powder snowboard out for a spin. Conditions were even better than the day before (obviously) and I spent most of my time on the new side until friends convinced me to go over to the Bear Chair. It was more skied out over there but then again, it was already 2:00 pm and most people it seemed, had left for the day.

I can't stress how excellent the skiing is right now. You always compare the current year to the last one and there is no comparison. Last year we were still riding bikes around town and the hill marginally opened just before Christmas to terrible conditions.

I think Christmas has come early this year. Get out and enjoy your present.
