There are moments in life that trigger memories to rise up from the subconscious and fill you with a tremendous sense of well-being. The past two days have been that way for me. I cant figure out if it was the sunshine casting long blue shadows across the snow, or open bowls of fresh powder waiting to be skied but something stirred childhood memories from within and I felt both alive and twelve years old again.
Maybe it was skating across the mountain and hearing nothing. Or, maybe it was just the way the snow felt beneath my feet as I made my way to the lift. Soft luxurious powder snow everywhere and it was devoid of people. Maybe that was what it was more than anything. Seeing the magnificent lizard range stretched out in front of me with only a scattering of people here and there. It resembled days gone past when turns were endless and powder lasted all day long.
April can be a tremendous month to ski and this weekend was proof of that. While all week I hoped and prayed for warm weather so I could get on my bike and ride, I cant deny that two days in a row of knee deep powder has its positives.
The pictures were taken on Sunday. The sun came out in full force and added that little bit of icing to the cake. This might be my last ski weekend of the season and it feels so great to end it on such an incredible note. Enjoy the images.
