Well it is definitely winter in the Elk Valley again. Kevin skied freshies all week and the weekenders like myself ended up with soft pack bumps and crud. Conditions are back to normal again with only a few spots sporting the gnarly ice that has been so persistent through most of February. Snowboarded with Trent and his son Joel for a few runs. That was kind of interesting as I hadnt been out on my snowboard at all this year (well except for that carving day). Why is it you always expect to pick up exactly where you left off?
Snow continued to fall on Saturday with total accumulations around 5 cm but temperatures dropped radically on Sunday as an arctic high settled into the region. Crystal clear skies made the 21 degree temperatures almost tolerable as the valley looks incredibly gorgeous with a fresh blanket of sparkling snow against the clear blue sky.
Frigid temps are only supposed to last a few days though before another warmers system moves into the region.
