There’s a fantastic phenomenon that occurs in Fernie regularly, where the town is covered in cloud, but a short trip up a ski hill lift thrusts you into blue skies. It’s often accompanied by a temperature inversion, but not always. Today was one of those days, as you’ll see in the one photo below.
Lori and I headed for the new side to see if any of the powder Gerry wrote about yesterday was still hanging about. We did find some fun stuff to ski in Currie, after it opened later in the morning. The powder is packed, but very skiable.
The groomers on the new side are in fantastic shape and there’s still plenty of mid-boot powder in the trees. And for a test we winged it all the way down Currie to the bottom with nary a rock in sight.
