LOCALS GEAR PICKS

December 25, 2002

Text and photos by Kevin McIsaac

A very Merry Christmas it was today, especially for skiers. A few centimeters fell last night, putting a nice dusting on the groomers. The snow was still falling today, turning Whitepass into white-out pass for some of the morning. But as the saying goes, the snow is always a little deeper on the other side of the hill, so off we headed for the old side.

There’s fantastic snow to be found all the way across the hill. Big Dipper and Concussion are good for those that still want to get back on Trespass Trail to the White Pass, but the run of the day was down Cedar Ridge. Calf-deep powder and an easy ski-out on the Cedar Trail plastered smiles across our faces. Don’t tell everyone though. At least not until we get a few more runs in.

Quote of the day:

“Well, now that was a successful mission.”

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…
