LOCALS GEAR PICKS

Okay, I have tried to hold back my disdain for the lack of snow so far this year but this weekend takes the cake. Pouring rain all weekend and temperatures more fit for September have reduced the snow in town to zero and pushed the snow level on the mountain almost to the top of the Elk Quad. You better check your wish list to Santa and make sure snow is on it.

On a positive note, when it finally does freeze, the base that exists will be solid as a rock with no worries about nasty whore crystal layers hiding in the snow pack. The patrol was obviously out as well today making things safer for all off us. Two loud explosions went off and the avalanche tracks down into the main bowl could be seen from town.

And on another positive note (can’t be too negative here can I), the temperatures are supposed to finally cool down to the freezing level with snow in the forecast.

So while we all wait for the snow to fall, I present you with this ultra retro flash back to 1984. Check out the killer bindings and functional metal fins. And to think back then we could actually make something like that turn….
