Ron Clark, his two dogs, and I climbed to the Griz face on Sunday and found the conditions to be excellent. Fresh powder turns to the top of Haul Back were enjoyed . The solid and condensed base is over a meter deep at the Face Lift and is already covering rocks and aulders. It will only take a couple of medium sized storms to have Fernie Alpine Resort open as planned on December 6th.
The World Freestyle Aerials site at FAR has been recently completed on Silver Fox, up against the Deer Chair. The Aerials and Moguls are scheduled for January 25 & 26, 2003. This photo does not capture the height of the jump where athletes will be some 60 feet in the air. Plan to be in Fernie to spectate these World events.
