Fernie is staging its 4th annual Black Friday Shopping event on Friday November 27th! The shopping deals are equal to or better than traveling to shop.

Black Friday is here to stay in Canada, especially in border city’s and towns fighting to keep shoppers spending money locally. Here is a quote from an article written by Huffington Post Blogger Jennifer Pellegrini – “Black Friday is becoming a bigger phenomenon here in Canada, as stores are countering the massive pre-Christmas cross-border assault with great sales of their own. And that’s exactly the right thing to do. Boxing Day sales are all well and good when your kids are old enough to not mind getting gift cards to use after the big day, but when you need to have actual presents under the tree Christmas morning, Boxing Day sales are of precious little use to you. Santa doesn’t leave an IOU”
Here’s the schedule thus far:
12-9pm – Black Friday: Shopping local supports local. More than 2 dozen Fernie businesses and counting are taking part in this year’s Black Friday, why leave town when you can shop at home!
12-8pm – TELUS will be serving complimentary warm beverages in front of the Arts Station
1-2:30 – Library: Drop in age 7 and up. Pirates, ships and treasure maps.
2-4pm – Face Painting in Ghostrider lobby
3-5pm – Arts Station: Free movie – ‘Elf’
3-7pm – Rotary Club will be offering complimentary freshly popped popcorn and hot chocolate outside the Museum.
4-9pm – Arts Station: ‘Deck the Walls’ craft fair
5-8pm – Art Walk: Various galleries will be taking part in a self guided art walk around Fernie. Participants include Eye of the Needle, Fernie Arts Co-op, Stephanies Glass and many more.
