Now that Fernie’s spring skiing has sprung, the official countdowns have begun. At the Resort, they are counting down to when they stop spinning the lifts and close the doors. This is an amazing ski season and the Resort is sporting a three metre base that continues to grow.

The skiers are trying to get as much lift accessed skiing in as possible before the lifts close and are counting down the days to the end of Fernie’s lift service. They will have to continue enjoying this amazing spring season without Fernie’s lifts and will continue skiing using alternate methods such as touring, snowmobile, and traveling to other resorts.

Earlier last week Fernie rippers were spoiled with sunshine, cool temperatures and regular small powder refreshes. This made for ideal skiing of all the headwalls of the Lizard Range. With coverage like this, not seen in many many years, all the classic lines are being skied, and some newer lines are being pioneered, or about to be pioneered!

This past weekend saw some amazing spring conditions, a rarity in the Snow Valley. Sunshine and ripping corn snow all over the mountain, enjoying fantastic coverage, and sunshine! This week is bringing some big spring dumps, more sun for the weekend and continued snowfall into next week.

Crammed into the last few weeks of lift serve at the resort is a plethora of events including the “Retro Weekend”! Ironically this is just a one day event on Saturday March 26th, a copycat event of the actual “Hot Dog Day” which is held every year on the first Wednesday of April. (April 6th this year). So, if you want to experience the authentic retro ski party on the mountain we will see you on Wednesday. After party antics at the Rusty Edge Featuring DJ Cona.

Enjoy the spring skiing and parties, the countdown is official!
