Over the weekend, local band Shred Kelly and The Arts Station presented the first “Fernie Colour Crawl”, a charity family-friendly event. With a turnout of over 300 participants, both young and old and all abilities, the event turned out to be a huge success.

The day began with sign-in at The Arts Station and race start at around 3pm. With options for both individual and team signup, there were several business groups participating as well as families of all ages.

Participants ran, jogged and walked the 5.5km, all with smiles on their faces. Colour stations were set up along the run, ensuring every racer finished with a multicolored ensemble. A BBQ and beer garden provided all necessary refreshment for the conclusion of the race.

The day finished with the highlight of the day, Shred Kelly performing outside The Arts Station in their own neon tie-dyed outfits. It was a perfect Fernie occasion: crisp fall weather, a beautiful sunset and stolkfolk echoing through town.

The greatest achievement was the money raised from the event. Over $10,000 was raised, 100% of which went to The Emily Brydon Foundation and The Fernie and District Arts Council Youth Concert Series Initiative. The generous support of sponsors and volunteers greatly contributed to the run’s success.
