Fernie Skiing Heritage will host their second induction into the Fernie Skiing Wall of Fame on March 29, 2014. The gala evening will honour and recognize the pioneers, builders or sport leaders who have contributed to Fernie’s rich skiing heritage and Fernie’s mountain living culture.

The Fernie Ski Hall of Fame was established in 2012 as a lasting record of the individuals and organizations whose passion and dedication have put Fernie prominently on the international ski map.

The inaugural induction ceremony on Friday, March 23, 2012 was part of Fernie Ski Heritage Week, a week-long series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of lift-access skiing in Fernie.

In 2014, the following notable and worthy candidates will be thanked, acknowledged and inducted:


Pioneer, Elk Valley Ski Touring Society
Ian Stokie, Pat Gilmar, Bob Morris and others. Builders of Fernie’s hut-to-hut system and many trails along the Lizard Range

Builder, Summit Ski Lifts, Fernie BC, Randy Gliege, Builder of ski lifts across the USA and Canada from a Fernie steel fabricating shop

Safety Expert, Dave Aikens

Snow Sports, Dr Geoff Seagram
Coach, Mentor, Chief of Medical Calgary Olympics, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient, Pediatric surgeon

Sports, Nancy-Jo O’Neill Fernie and Provincial Ski Coach
, 25 years contributing to the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and their curriculum development,

This event will be also a charitable fund raising evening and the following snow sport organizations will benefit : Emily Brydon Youth Foundation, Fernie Alpine Ski Team, and others.
