New to the musical venues at the resort is the Lost Boys Cafe where music from local musicians can be enjoyed over a delicious Mogul Smoker at the top of the mountain.

Snow at Its Best — With constant dedication to our mountain conditions and 29ft of annual snowfall pounding down on the mountain, two brand new Prinoth BR 350 machines have been added to the fleet. Known as the “North American Groomer”, this machine offers greater efficiency, increased reliability, enhanced performance, and ease of operation which ultimately translates into better conditions for skiers and riders to enjoy.

New Exciting Events — Fernie revels in unique events that keep guests of all ages entertained while enjoying world-class skiing and riding. New this year to the roster are great new events including: U of Snow, Powder Power, and Fernie’s Got Talent

Hollywood North Expanded — Soon to be known as the official site of Hot Tub Time Machine (Release scheduled for Feb 2010), this retro ski-movie both featuring and directed by John Cusack features Fernie Alpine Resort, the city of Fernie, and many of its local residents as its main backdrop. Film crews took over the region late this spring and brought out “all things retro” from the ski scene and people in Fernie.

Run Improvements for Better Skiing — To keep up with the standard of world-class skiing, a ¼ million dollar run improvement program was launched this summer. Efforts included heavy brush cutting and mowing on core runs to improve terrain for all levels of skiers and riders. New clearing and sculpting on Bear and Cruiser are part of a major commitment to provide consistent and quality skiing and riding right from opening of the the resort. Bear and Cruiser are just a few of the many premier runs at Fernie Alpine Resort that have been cleared to provide incredible groomed conditions from the opening of the season.

Dedication to JR Free Ski Programs — As one of the few ski resorts to offer Junior Free Ski/Ride programs, Fernie Alpine Resort proudly supports the development of the sport and acknowledges its contribution to the evolution of skiing and riding.

Avalanche Educational School Program — The Fernie Ski Patrol delivers an educational Avalanche Awareness program to students as young as Kindergarten across the East Kootenays. The program reaches an average of 1200 students and aims to uncover the dangers in a mountain backyard-playground while educating how to safely enjoy winter sports.

New Development – Juniper Lodge — Ski accommodations have never been better with the completion of the new, luxurious Juniper Lodge: a final addition to the Timberline Lodges at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Featuring Five Unique Bowls — 2500 acres of skiing enjoyment across five unique bowls sets Fernie Alpine Resort aside from most resorts in North America that typically have 1 or 2 bowls. New, creative and strategically placed signs for each bowl (Siberia, Timber, Curry, Lizard, & Cedar) will help skiers and riders not only identify their location on-mountain but also navigate to their favourite bowls and runs.
