Whitefish Mountain Resort Montana, one hour South of Fernie, announced today that more than 306 inches of snow had blanketed the resort by the mid-point of the ski season, surpassing the 10-year average for total snowfall at its summit in a season.

The resort’s ski season is slated to run from Dec. 8, 2007 to April 6, 2008, making Feb. 6 the halfway point. On Feb. 5, continuing snow during the day carried the total for the season over the 300-inch mark. “It’s more than we’ve had at that point in the season since we started keeping monthly records in 1999,” said Ski Patrol Director Tary King. “The snow has been consistently fresh and deep all year long. We joke that there’s too much, that it’s making more work for us, but really we all just feel lucky to be here, experiencing these kinds of conditions.”
