It was a record-breaking winter season at Sun Peaks Resort. The final count for skier visits is 325,420, up from 318,000 last year. Destination market visits increased by 36%.
“It’s been a fabulous winter on all levels. We experienced great snow conditions from early on that continued right through closing weekend,” said
, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sun Peaks.
Other record breaking periods throughout the season included the Christmas season and President’s Week, both experiencing a 12% growth. Easter weekend was one of the busiest time periods ever.
In the Kamloops market Sun Peaks experienced a positive increase with a 7% rise in season’s pass sales.
On the international front, specific markets that had substantial increase were the United Kingdom up by 15%, and North American visitors up by 6%. The big story though is the Australian market that saw a 50% increase.
Fernie Alpine Resort stopped releasing skier visits a couple of years back however all bets are on an increase however no record breaker. Everyone had more than their share of powder this season.
