- National Park in lower Flathead would help address World Heritage Committee concerns
Brasilia, Brazil — Work still needs to be done to protect wildlife in the Flathead and surrounding areas, and to ensure that Rocky Mountain wildlife connectivity is not compromised by forestry practices and other development, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee said today in a “state of conservation” report.
The state of conservation report recommends "development of a pro-active plan for enhancing connectivity” in the Flathead River Valley and adjoining areas. - Stage 2 will take riders from Fernie's Historic Downtown to Coal Creek Summit and on a single track trail named Porkypine Rim that drops to the Elk River from the ridge near Hosmer.
This 4000ft descent will approx take fast riders 20-25minutes, the ridgeline you see in backgrounds of some frames is where you descend from.

- I spent last week travelling around BC's vast north. Started on Sunday in Terrace talking to the folks up there about the $450 million NW Transmission line that will open up NW BC to independent power production and to new mines. The potential there is breathtaking and the people in the NW really deserve some economic action. We've been fortunate these past 10 years in the East Kootenay. They haven't seen much happening and they've lost their forest industry almost totally. The NW Transmission line will go from Terrace to Bob Quinn and then a second project will take it.. (Read More)

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Board of Directors is considering an application for a Temporary Use Permit for short term topsoil storage at 6172 Cunliffe Road.
The City Engineering Department reviewed the Notice of Intent and determined that it would not likely be a detriment to the physical road condition however, they noted that the left turn onto Brenner Road or Cunliffe Road from Highway No. 3 for eastward moving vehicles is a concern from a traffic movement safety perspective. - More than 110 people crowded the Best Western Lodge banquet room to enjoy lunch and listen to Minister Bill Bennett and Minister Colin Hansen on Friday July 16, 2010.

FABDA hosted the event and Mike Delich, its current president was MC. After a brief introduction by Delich Minister Bennett thanked everyone for attending saying he’s wanted Minister Hansen to come to Fernie for some time. He said he appreciated each person for attending on a hot Friday afternoon when they were probably looking for somewhere cool to go to. Noting that social events are a good way to get together.. Entertainment included a wide range of live bands which played throughout the day and into the evening, horse riding, dunk tanks, craft tents, bouncy stations, sumo wrestling , free cake and drinks, the famous Fernie markets and a magnificent fire works display which seemed endless.

Former Ghostrider Jace Coyle signs with the Dallas Stars

Back in 2006 one of the Ghostriders two sixteen year olds in camp was a Cranbrook kid named Jace Coyle. The young defenseman impressed at camp,made the team and by the end of the year he was named as the Riders best defenseman. What made Coyle stand out from the rest of the players in the league was his exceptional skating ability. And his skating did not go.. (Read More)
